Recipes with Zerlina Mastin


For dancers who love peanut butter, these energy bites are a treat! Quick and easy to make, and much less expensive than shop brought versions, these bites require no baking and make ideal snacks between classes (or even as a breakfast-on-the-go). Each bite contains a good balance of key nutrients, and the ground flaxseed represents a fantastic source of omega-3 fats, which aid recovery and reduce inflammation.

Makes 10 bites

Per bite: 125kcal, 6g fat, 4g protein


1 small banana,

80g oats,

50g peanut butter,

30g honey,

50g ground flaxseed,

50g chocolate chips,

1 tsp. vanilla essence (optional)


  1. Peel and mash the banana then throw in the remaining ingredients. Mix in well with the fingers, then mould into approximately 10 bites. Place in the fridge and consume within 5 days.
