Specialist Senior Physiotherapist
I am a Chartered Physiotherapist with 20 years experience both in the NHS and in private practice, having qualified in 1991. After an initial two years on a general rotation I specialised in musculo-skeletal injuries. I joined the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in 1993 and since 1995 I have worked a Senior 1 Physiotherapist in Sports Medicine. From 2001, I have additionally built up a Private Practice.
In this capacity I have developed extensive experience in the rehabilitation of injured sports persons and performing artists, back to previous levels of activity. I am the principle physiotherapist for the upper limb unit at the RNOH, Bolsover Street.This involves assessing and treating patients after traumatic injuries to the shoulder and elbow joints, as well as following elective surgery.
I am responsible for supervising both senior and junior physiotherapy staff at RNOH and I am a Clinical Supervisor for undergraduate physiotherapy students. I am involved in the in-service training programme for all qualified physiotherapists and junior medical staff at the RNOH. I regularly teach courses on a regional and national level to fellow post graduate physiotherapists and medical staff, and lecture on topics of specialist orthopaedic rehabilitation following surgery and post injury.
I have been the superintendent physiotherapist at the Royal National Orthopaedic hospital and hold the position as the sport injury specialist therapist. I work with the peripheral injury unit and cover shoulder and nerve injuries post operatively and post injury. I I have had experience managing a department and producing post operative protocols.
In addition, I undertake medico legal work, accepting instructions from both Claimant and Defendant Solicitors and Insurers. I have undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and am fully aware of my responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses.
